Aladdin will be joining the Broadway world this year after a record setting run at the Muny in St Louis and a similarly strong performance at Utah’s Tuacahn theater. The prince of thieves will be flying his magic carpet to a whole new world away from the big screen. Disney had major success with Aladdin back in the early 1990′s and it still is a family favorite even after all these years. When Aladdin joins the Broadway it will be one of many Disney cartoons to do so and they include Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King. This is a great opportunity for anyone that is a fan of Aladdin or that has been waiting to show off their dancing and singing skills.
Based on the smash-hit 1992 animated film, Aladdin is the story of a street urchin who uses the help of a magic lamp Genie to win the heart of Princess Jasmine. The producers of Aladdin are promising a lot of new things for the musical. Some include illusions, camels, magic flying carpets, giant water effects and a live interaction with the fans .The two-hour and 15-minute stage adaptation incorporates the Academy Award-winning songs from the 1992 film, penned by composer Menken and lyricist Howard Ashman.
