This is a casting call for an upcoming play based on the famous novel, “Forbidden Colors” penned by the modern Japanese writer, Yukio Mishima. The executives are seeking four actors for different roles including the lead roles as well. If you have, what it takes to deliver a brilliant theatrical performance and if you are from New York, then apply for any of the roles that suit you.

About the Project

The play is about aging, misanthropic, Shunsuke, who is a highly revered, postwar Japanese author. While vacationing, he meets an extremely gorgeous man, Yuichi. This young man has dwindling resources and does not have a cunning mind. Shunsuke finds out that Yuichi is betrothed to a prim, conservative young lady from a wealthy and respectable family.

The only reason Yuichi is marrying is to cope with his financial crisis and being a simpleton, he opens up to Shunsuke, about his lack of attraction not only for his future wife, but for any other woman. Shunsuke, being an artful deceiver, finds his chance to turn the impressionable, naive young man into a powerful weapon who can take revenge against the entire female race. He makes Yuichi believe that his failure to experience physical attraction for females is by no means a weakness but rather a wonderful strength. He recommends Yuichi to agree to the marriage only to achieve monetary refuge.

However, he must not let go of any opportunity to research deeply about people’s emotions, and for that, he must engage in innumerable affairs with not only women but also with men.

Casting Call for Various Roles

The directors are looking for cast for the following roles:

1. Shunsuke, the eminent novelist

Requirements:

• Exceptional acting skills as he is the protagonist

• Good vocals as the character will be narrating the story

• Age: 45-60

2. Yuichi, the beautiful young man

Requirements:

• Someone with good looks will be preferred

• Great acting skills

• Age: 19-21

3. The bride of Yuichi

Requirements:

• Great acting skills

• Age 19-20

4. Young boys

Requirements:

• All young male characters

• Good vocals for they tell the other side of the story

• Age: 20-30

• Handsome men will be preferred

5. Mrs. Kaburagi and Kyoko, women who have betrayed Shunsuke

Requirements:

• Age: 30-40

• Great acting skills

People from all ethnicities and backgrounds are welcome since they are aiming for diversity.

Procedure for Casting

A workshop will be conducted from June 27 to July 1
The rehearsal dates are July 18-23 and July 25-30
The play will go live on August 4 and August 8
You must apply before June 21, 2016, with a resume and recent photographs.
