Homeland is an American spy thriller created by Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa. It is based on an Israeli series titled, Prisoners of War. The series originally aired on October 2nd, 2011 and was quickly praised for its unique plot and interesting characters. It not only touches on the horrors of war, but mental disorders and the stress of a high intensity government job.
Claire Danes is the main star in the series. She plays the role of a CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) officer named Carrie Mathison with bipolar disorder. She becomes convinced a prisoner of war has been turned by Al-Qaeda and is planning to carry out a terrorist attack on American soil. Homeland features Claire Danes, Mandy Patinkin, and Rupert Friend.
