Who hasn’t heard about “Dirty Dancing”, the eighties classical sensation? Well, here is a terrific news for the lovers of the romantic American film as the casting directors of the remake of “Dirty Dancing” have announced a new call out for local residents.  The Tona Dahlquist Casting crew is seeking both female and male actors. They are particularly looking for people who can pass as the people of the fifties or sixties era. Since there will be no paid travel expenses, the talent curious to apply for these roles must be living in North Carolina only. These are non-speaking roles and will require the selected individuals to work in Saluda, North Carolina.

About ‘Dirty Dancing’

‘Dirty Dancing’ was first released in 1987. The movie won an Oscar for original song in the Best Music category and 12 other awards. The movie tells the story of 17 year old Frances Houseman, nicknamed as “Baby”, who has come with her family to spend her summer vacations at Catskills resort. Baby thinks that she would have the most boring summer in Catskills Mountains. However, she learns lessons about love, how to be a responsible adult, and how to perform specific dance all on vacations. Baby ends up falling in love with the resort’s dance instructor, Johnny.

About the Cast

The remake of ‘Dirty Dancing’ is going to be composed of 3 parts. The first part of the mini-series will release on ABC Network later in 2016. The main role of “Baby” has been assigned to Abigail Breslin. The role of Baby’s mother has been given to the star of “Mysteries of Laura”, Debra Messing. Baby’s sister, Lisa Houseman will be played by Sarah Hyland. The Star Wars actor, Billy Dee Williams will also be a part of the remake. Colt Prattes will play Johnny. Penny will be played by Nicole Scherzinger.

If you have a retro look of seventies, then you have a solid chance of being cast as an extra in ‘Dirty Dancing’. You will be required for fitting in the mid of May which is necessary prior to the date of filming. The pay rate of this role is $64/8 ($64 for the first 8 hours or less, overtime will be given after 8 hours).
